OK: Who was Albert Claude? I admit: I never heard of him until last week, but his story is so profound that I just had to make something out of it. Thus, today’s column. Winner of the Nobel Prize in Medi-cine in 1974, Monsieur Claude, who was born in the tiny hamlet of Longlier in southeastern Belgium in 1899, never finished high school. That could have been the end for most of us. But not for him. He began his schooling in a one-room schoolhouse, but like many Europeans, his life was disrupted by World War I.
